What is KinderKaizen?

KinderKaizen is a Pure Play Learning Programme designed to encourage children to explore and discover while enhancing their physical, emotional, intellectual, developmental, social and spiritual needs. We are registered as a Tadika, or 'Kindergarten' in English, meaning we cater to children from the ages of 4 to 6 years old.

Kinder in German means ‘children’ and Kaizen in Japanese means ‘continuous improvement.’ It is with the spirit of Kaizen we aim to house children by continuously exploring their talents, unleash their true potential, and continuously improving and enriching their skills in KinderKaizen.

What is Play-based Learning methodology?

Development is not an automatic process but children are born eager, curious, and ready. During play they are learning and lots of developments are taking shape. Children learn more while playing because play is the most natural thing for children. Play allows them to explore and discover new knowledge. Play allows them to interact with people and their surroundings. Play allows the children to observe, assess, and think for themselves before making decisions. Above all, Play expands children’s creativity and supplements their love for learning.

So, WHO is KinderKaizen for?

KinderKaizen is for ALL. We practise inclusion and encourage mix of culture. We want to expose children to multiculturalism because we believe by doing so, we help prepare them in accepting others as well as their own unique self. Plus, we are moving towards globalisation. We must practice inclusion.

But... what do you mean by ‘inclusive’?

We encourage ALL KinderKaizen centres to accept children from various kinds of backgrounds. We believe in order for children to learn acceptance, we adults, need to model it and promote it in their learning environment. We do it through our daily interaction and PLAY. We create the environment which allows children to learn how to get along with others, RESPECT and how they can help those who might need assistance. We believe this will be their foundation.

There is no work book at KinderKaizen. So how does KinderKaizen ensure my children’s reading and writing development?

At KinderKaizen, we build these skills through PLAY. With play we tackle your children’s skills at each of their reading and writing stages. Each stage is different, parents. For starters, all children will go through the pre-reading and pre-writing stage. At pre-writing stage, children love to doodle. We provide the space and materials for them to doodle and explore all types of writing tools and styles. Writing becomes much easier for the children after that. Similarly, at the pre-reading stage, children are imitating our reading habits. At KinderKaizen we provide storybooks, story time, and our PLAYPhonics techniques to nurture your children’s reading habits.

So, when will my children read and write if I send them to KinderKaizen?

We try not to make empty promises to parents because reading and writing are skills that need time to be developed properly. Each child learns to read and write at different rates. Rushing young children to read and write before they are ready only hinders their development. At KinderKaizen, children are not pressured to read and write before their time. When they are ready, they read and write fluently.

Why does KinderKaizen not accept children aged 3 years old and below?

It is MOE’s requirement for a registered Kindergarten/Tadika such as KinderKaizen. For children 3 years old and below, KinderKaizen offers weekend programmes at participating branches.
